Thanks again, I had a closer look.... It certainly looks like it could be very useful if you advertise in the classifieds!

By the way, which leads me to the question -- what kind of products sell well from the classifieds section of the paper, to your knowledge? (This is directed at everybody....)

I have to admit I don't have experience in this myself. But I have looked to see what sells, at least here in Australia, from the classifieds section.

There is one business I know of here in Australia which successfully sells correspondence courses from the classified section of the newspaper, nation-wide. Their courses are not cheap though -- a shade under $1000 per course....

I guess they can afford to have a low response rate, because their profit margin must be huge. They wouldn't need much response to be profitable! I'm sure they're successful, though, as I've seen their ads in the paper repeatedly every week for several years....

Do you know of any other products which some seem to sell successfully from newspaper classifieds?

"Great Correspondence Course only $995. Send money order only to PO Box..."

How does their ad read?

Yes, you're right, they sell with a two-step approach.... (I forgot to mention that part!)

I don't have a copy of their ad handy, but I'll dig through the weekend paper and find it. (They have several classified ads every week, for their different courses....)

As you know, it can be a good exercise to keep track of the different ads which you've notice have been repeated. That's because a regularly repeated ad means a successful ad.

Many say that newspaper classifieds don't work.... But clearly some do.

How much more business would they get if they had more real testimonials ...telling real success stories using their service?

What if they had "white papers" with some basic classified ad "how to" information with examples of the best types of offers, headlines, etc?

From their name, it sounds like they are a regular college.... But

They seem to ONLY sell correspondence courses. For all I know, they could be a home-based business!

They have a few other similar ads here too (TWO almost identical ads for "cartooning and illustration," an ad for "sports photojournalism", one for "freelance journalism," and one for "graphic design and desktop publishing").
