![]() Hi Gordon,
Hope you received the email I sent a couple of days or so ago. I am so pleased that you like my creative work. It's 'Santa's Workshop' time around my house right now as I am working long hours to get caught up so I can FINALLY get some eggshells uploaded to my site in a week or so from now. Had some good therapy on my hand and that made all the difference. I had 'over' healed and that caused as much problem as the cut. I've just been invited to participate in a video production that is now in the planning stages - featuring Texas artisans that have czech heritage. I'm a mixture of a lot of things, but I definitely have some czech from one side of the family. Funny thing is that when people see how I have to prepare to carve the delicate things, they'd be shocked. I look like I am going to war when I go into my studio. I wear a respirator and goggles since inhaling any egg dust is very harmful to the lungs and irritates the eyes. I do have a ventilation system as well that sucks most of the dust out of the carving area, but it's like baby powder and goes everywhere if not controlled well. So, I am trying to decide if I want to show the 'real' way I look while carving (for the video) with all my protective gear. Not very flattering! I've been asked to demonstrate before at an art show, but the stench of the egg smell (when being carved into) and the tremendous amount of powdery dust everywhere soon drove away the curious observers. So many people are really surprised, when looking at the finished product, about just how 'dirty' the work is that it takes to achieve the ultimate final result...as shown in the photo of your eggshell. My rest breaks are few and far between now...but I can't bear to totally miss what is going on here at sowpub.com ... so I spend the few moments of leisure time, I allow myself, to catch up on all the interesting posts on this board. :) As the weeks pass, sowpub is becoming more and more like a great party - with all kinds of fascinating 'guests' with interesting contributions stopping by and really livening up the place! Definitely THE PLACE to be...definitely! :) ~Amber > Here is what it looks like on my mantle: > Isn't it beautiful? YES! |
