Default A FREE Online Tool For Copywriters

Here is a online tool that I discovered a little over a year ago...

http://www.rhymezone.com

The "find related word" is my favorite function. It is like a thesaurus on steroids.

If I am writing a salesletter and want to give it a "theme" -- I can enter a word and come-up with a bunch of other words to pepper throughout the text.

(Yanik Silver is a master of this technique, and has used it for his Underground Seminars... Yanik's Secret Service, etc.)

Here is an example of how I use the tool.

If I want my letter to have a "baseball theme" I enter "baseball" into RhymeZone and get:

aboard, allow, ash, assist, at-bat, away, babe ruth, backstop, ball club, ball field, ball-hawking, ballpark, ballplayer, baseball bat, baseball card, baseball clinic, baseball club, baseball coach, baseball diamond, baseball equipment, baseball glove, baseball league, baseball mitt, baseball player, baseball score, baseball season, baseball swing, baseball team, baseline, base on balls, base runner, bat boy, batter's box, batting average, batting glove, batting helmet, batting order, beanball, beaner, bear down, bender, big league, big leaguer, blank, bounce out, bullet, bullpen, card, catch, catcher, catcher's mask, center field, change-of-pace, change-of-pace ball, change-up, chest protector, cleanup, cleanup position, cleanup spot, club, curve, cut, cut down, cut out, die, double, draw, drive in, dugout, exhibition season, extra innings, face mask, fair, fan, farm club, farm team, fastball, fielder, fielding average, first base, first baseman, first sacker, foul line, foul out, frame, fumble, george herman ruth, give up, glove, ground out, ground rule, heater, hill, hit, home, home plate, hummer, hurler, in-bounds, infield, infielder, inning, knee pad, knuckleball, knuckler, lead, left field, left-handed pitcher, left-hander, lefty, lineup, little league, lumber, major league, major leaguer, majors, minor league, minor leaguer, minors, mitt, mound, muff, no-hit, off-speed pitch, on base, outfield, outfielder, outside, park, pass, pinch hitter, pine-tar rag, pitcher, pitcher's mound, pitching change, pitching coach, plate, pop, put out, retire, retired, right field, right-handed pitcher, right-hander, rosin bag, run, run bases, runner, ruth, sacrifice, safe, second, second base, second baseman, second sacker, series, shin guard, shinpad, shoestring catch, shortstop, single, slouch, smoke, southpaw, squeeze play, starting pitcher, steal, strike out, sultan of swat, swing, switch, switch-hitter, tally, third, third base, third baseman, third sacker, throat protector, triple, triple crown, triple-crown, triple-crown season, twirler, ump, umpire, utility man, walk, wind up, world series

I also have created a swipe file for words that we all use when writing, like "money", etc...

Hope this help you.

Aloha,

Jason Cain

Wow, thanks Jason!

I usually use a thesaurus (often www.thesaurus.com ) - but as you say, this is much better...!

For example, using an example you mentioned - "money". With a thesaurus, you find words like "cash", "bread", "dough", "loot", etc.

But with Rhymezone you also find related words that don't appear in the thesaurus listing, like "dollars", "bank", "wallet", etc. These different words can also help "stimulate" your thinking into different directions too !

That's a great find! Thankyou for sharing it...

Cheers,

Dien

P.S. By the way, I'm a big fan of your Goldblogger blog too...

Default You're Welcome... This Too...

You're welcome Dien -- I am glad you like it! I figured that you would.

And I see that you are using it like I am... looking for different directions.

I highly recommend creating a swipe file of words for themed writing and copywriting in general.

I am building something similar to "The Analogy Book Of Related Words" by Selma Glasser (HIGHLY recommended for themed writing too!!) using RhymeZone.

Aloha,

Jason Cain
