![]() It has been a few years since I've written any poetry ...("...yet the light of a whole life dies when love is done." Bourdillion.)
So I had to go the cedar chest and dust off some of the old stuff, this one for the American THANKSGIVING. THOUGHTS ON THANKSGIVING a reflective respite from the daily flow, a yield, a pause: the harvest reaped. the seeds that were sown, nurtured in the field, fed with water warmed in summer's sun, the warmth now a glow; remembered in our bread, our work. the table spread of nature's bounty, give thanks and share we thank, the grower, the harvesterer, the carrier, the merchant, the buyer...share the baker, butcher, preparer...share the guests, share this day A bite of life, a breath of love Strife made light, by the depth above. A TOAST: to old friends, old lovers, even though we have not yet met. "May this time be remembered as an exuberant pause in your journey, and may the future find you ever exultant in your moments and may love faithfully escort your ephemeral existence and hold you gently in it's eternal embrace" May you gather together, not out of obligation, but for the joyous sharing of your hearfelt gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving. GJA |
