Default How do they do this?

I'm looking at doing some affiliate marketing and I came across this site http://www.thefind.com.

How did they create this site?

It looks like they are pulling data from all these different merchants. I would love to create a site like this but have no idea of the technology behind this.

Any ideas?

JC

JC ,check the FAQ's http://www.thefind.com/main/FAQs.fhtml
They use a robot to crawl sites , then have a search engine database like google or yahoo.

Default It's called "Scraping"...

Aloha JC,

I agree the technology is pretty cool. It's called "scraping" and as Mike said in his post, it is done by a web-crawling robot or spider.

I do not mean to rain on your parade, but the technology has been around for a few years now, and there are dozens of competing sites. I think the sun has set on this opportunity.

The big boy on the block is www.Froogle.com. From the boys at Google.

Aloha,

Jason
