![]() Some years ago...when Color TV's had been out for a year or so and were costing around $500 for a 19".....I was doing "Placemat Ads in Restaurants".
I had room for 16 Ads around the edge of the Mats. Well, I was getting tired of charging $245 for an Ad. I was looking for a way to get $490 for an Ad (double what I was getting) As I've done with many of my Ad projects....I sat in the "target" restaurant (a new Chinese rest)...drinking coffee....pondering...thinking...looking at the clientele....pondering....thinking....sipping....T HEN, it hit me; Why don't I offer to, "WIN A BRAND NEW 19" TV!" I'd place an Easel just inside the entrance. On the easel would be a 2ft by 3ft Ad board with the words, "WIN A BRAND NEW 19" COLOR TV! SEE PLACEMAT FOR DETAILS!" With a PHOTO of the TV. And...on the placemats I'd put the same info and photo and explain what they needed to do to have a chance at winning. (They had to sign the "Entry Form" on the back of each Ad and drop the form into the box at the front of the restaurant. If they filled in each form...they'd have 16 chances of winning) Well...I got my 16 advertisers and the promo took off like a big bird. I couldn't get any Free Pr because I was a "commercial venture"...so, I had to run some ads in the paper and on radio...promoting the program. Well...I was able to stimulate LOTS of diners to the restaurant...the advertisers were happy...the restaurant was happy...the winner of the TV was happy...and I was happy (16 x $495 = $7,920 less cost of TV and ads and I walked away with about $6,500 in my pocket) So...by the same token; What if you were to place some "LUCKY BUZZ BITES" in the machines. A "Lucky Buzz Bite" would be worth a chance to win a prize in a drawing. (You'll have to come up with the prize) For one of my Promotions, I got a jeweler friend to get me some 1/4 carat diamonds that cost me $150ea. These were 1-step above a piece of coal but good enough to cause a woman's heart to go a-twitter. I posted a graphic drawing of a diamond everywhere to promo the thing and stirred up some excitement. Think about some way that will BRING THE LOCATIONS MORE CUSTOMERS! When the locations see what your "Promo" looks like and HOW THEY CAN BENEFIT...they will WANT to participate! Just a matter of coming up with a good promo. The "Special Buzz Bite" buried in amongst the regular Buzz Bites is what I think can "Tie-In" your machines to bringing more people into the participating locations. Don Alm |
