I know there is a lot of marketers using smartpages but I do not see many replies to your post. I have set up hundreds of smartpages and was getting results in the top 10 but for some reason, have seen some vanish just as quickly as they got there. Not only did the high ranking ones vanish, the entire family vanishes too. I still do not know what kind of negative effect smartpages have done to my domain name. Furthermore, smartpages need PR to get a good ranking anyway. So what's the point? I am still getting top 10 rankings with my regular pages. So I thought to myself, why bother with smartpages? Not only that, if a smartpage is not sneaky, why is it suggested not to submit them to the search engines. And more still, I am not willing to setup a network of domains just to send traffic to one site. The idea would be to protect my main domain and replace banned domains with new ones. It has not been a total waste of time though. This is just one of those things which I will not do in the future. Here is my opinion. If I target a competitive search term and get it into the top 10 with a smartpage, someone will report me and my page (the entire family) vanishes PLUS any negative penalties imposed by the search engines. Don't get me wrong though, I have nothing against smartpages, smartpage software, or the folks that use this technology. It just does not seem to sit right with *me*. I am no longer using smartpages and am in the process of removing all of them from the Internet for good. This is not a weekend project either. My advise is go with your highest thought about the matter. If there is a doubt, there is no doubt. Ed Zivkovic Here is some other waste of time Search Engine stuff I did |
