Default Scanner problem

When I scan a sheet into MSPublisher....look at the sheet at it looks fine....click "Print" (my printer is the HP1220C) and it prints out a "shadow text"...a duplicate of the actual text in a gray color and slightly above the actual letters so that it is hard to read.

I'm using an "ACERSCAN 620U" and I "don't think I've changed any settings and can't find where I would change the setting to give me a "shadow" effect.

Anyone ever run into this problem?

Thanks....Don Alm

Default More likely to be a printer problem

Or an MsPublisher problem. Are you scanning it in using the OCR (convert to text) or are you scanning it in as an image?

Check the properties on your fonts (highlight a section and go into paragraph properties.)

And make sure you're inserting text and not a photo. Photos can do wonky things sometimes.

Default Re: Scanner problem

It almost sounds like a head alginment problem. Try going into your printer set up and do a "head alginment" .

Mel....I'm scanning in 8 1/2 by 11 Menus which is text. I'm scanning them in a Pictures, into MSPub and the pages looks fine BUT...when I print them out...each letter has a "shadow" (a duplicate of the letter offset down and to the right about 1/8".

Strangest thing I've ever seen. Makes it hard to read the menu because of this shadow.

I do have an OCR program on my pc but couldn't find anything there.

I'm just scanning in pictures...which happen to be a Menu with words.

I'll keep plugging along. Maybe one of the techie kids at Staples or Office Max has an idea.

Thanks....Don Alm

Default How does it do on text?

And have you tried printing directly from an image editing program (or from Internet Explorer?)

It could be a print head problem (which you would diagnose if it does this when you try to print text or anything else.) Also, try looking at the picture in IE -- IE should actually be able to open it up and view it.

That will tell you which device is causing the problem. If you can print from IE with no shadow and look and see no shadow, then the problem is MS Publisher. Reinstall MS Publisher.

Default Try this...

Scan the sheet as a picture into graphics software. Save it. Then either import it into a MSPub Image Box - or - copy and paste it into MSPub - letting MSPub create its own box.

But do this after a reboot. Sometimes, for reasons I cannot figure, MSPub does funny things with graphics. Usually it just doesn't print mine. All is fine after a reboot.

Default Problem cleared

I do NOT know what I did or why it cleared but after 1 1/2 days of trying to get the "shadow" off picture files....many buttons pressed, re-installs and reboots....she cleared up. No more shadows on picture file printouts.

Hope it doesn't happen again cause I don't have a clue what cleared it.

Thanks for your response.
