Default For George, Julie and the other LIFE GUARDS out there...

I don't post much poetry, saving that for a later date.

But here is a poem I wrote many years ago during my social worker days. It is called LIFEGUARDS.

They swim daily in the seas,

looking, listening,

ready to rescue and resuscitate.

She lay upon the sandy shore, the incoming
tide splashes at her feet.

The lifeguards walk by, smiling at her,
gazing ourward toward the deep.

Alert, awake, aware; they ride the crests,
While the tide slowly, steadily covers her breasts.

We work to save the drowning soul,
We fight the watery bed

The ocean raises by one, it's toll.

as water covers her lifeguard head.

end.

I'll have a few words about Why we do what we do a little later in the day...

Default Another Poetic Thank You, Gordon!

Thank you, Gordon. Poetry sometimes eloquently speaks from the heart which prose can not.

Here is a poem I wrote last October. Actually, the words flowed from my pencil to my pad without me thinking them at all. I tweaked a little here and there but thats it.

This poem has framed my life since then, and now adorns refrigerators and journals around the country.

Enjoy.....

Now Begin

Beneath the degrees, titles, accomplishments,
What is inside, to be discovered at your core?
What is your unique and special spark?
Buried deep, neglected, chosen to ignore

Seeking to please whomever
Drowning out pure longings of your heart
Struggling, freezing, suffocating
Until finally, you choose to start

Whispers from the spirit
Souls songs from deep within
After dancing, stranger among strangers,
Claim it! Your life! Now begin!

Passion, Purpose, Poetry........
