![]() Good Afternoon SowPubbers!
I had an amazing experience this afternoon. Many, many years ago I had a dream, a goal of owning an Austin Mini Cooper. As a child, I spent many vacations at car races in places in Quebec, Upstate New York and Connecticut. We are talking Road Racing, not "Circular Racing" (sorry, not sure of the correct terminology." Since I am always a BIT different, I tended to like the cars that were also a bit different. I thought Mini Coopers were the CUTEST, albeit not necessarily FASTEST cars on the track. So, while my brothers enjoyed speed and the agile ability of the drivers, I picked out my Favorite Mini Cooper and decided ONE DAY I would own one, too. Well now, thanks to this forum and a very proactive member of the community, Mr. John David Bradshaw, I own my very first Mini Cooper! Not only THAT! It is YELLOW! Which during my Mini Cooper worship era WAS my very favorite color! It is perched right next to some fresh flowers I received this morning as well, reminding me of the generous and giving spirit of the people God has brought into my life. The message is NEVER stop reaching for your goals and NEVER, EVER question how your goals will be reached. It is not necessarily a matter of you MAKING it happen, it may be more of a matter of you being authentically YOU and through that, your goals will be fulfilled. I am glad to see my Mini Cooper (which is a Hot Wheel collector edition) is guaranteed for life. Much like this warmth in my heart that has been created, manifested if you will, because SowPub exists. What have you manifested today in your own lives and the lives of those around you? THANK YOU! JDB, for being YOU! And for gifting me so magnificently! YOU are a blessing to ME! With Purpose and Passion, JULIE JORDAN SCOTT Dare to Discover Your Passion, Decide to Live Your Destiny! |

![]() Hi Julie,
Wow, what a story! It sounds like things are really happening for you.... :) It's like those sayings.... Whatever you sow, you reap.... Give and you shall receive.... Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.... Julie, you put out so many positive vibes in the world, I'm glad that they are coming back to you too! :) And that's also great for JDB, since I know the same will happen to him too! You're both very positively-vibed people.... :) Now... this is related.... I've recently been interested in the topic of business helping people.... You might say, all businesses help people in some way, or they wouldn't stay in business! And that's generally true for the majority of businesses.... But I was thinking of businesses that help people in need specifically.... Which are conceived for the main purpose of helping people who are in need in some way.... What got me thinking about this was reading about Dean Kamen (see the posts further down the forum).... Especially reading about Dean Kamen's revolutionary new wheelchair.... This was conceived since Dean Kamen saw that there needed to be something better, when he watched a man in a wheelchair try to negotiate a curb.... His "wheelchair" can not only bring its user eye to eye with people who are standing, but it also means they can climb stairs! To me, this is a great ideal! The point of this? Well, it gets back to whatever you sow, you reap.... And it's great to have a business where what you sow is helping others, becoming a "champion" of their lives, if you like.... I know that many people have very different motivations for doing business, and profit has to be in there somewhere or a business won't survive.... Yet becoming a "champion" for others seems to be one of the most noble there is.... And it seems to be a legitimate motivation for business. Many here at Sowpub show this (like both Julie and Gordon, to just name two).... Dean Kamen shows this too. I think Richard Branson also has this motivation (I feel he likes to be a "people's champion", and likes to see himself taking on giant, entrenched corporations in order to give people a better deal or better service than they had before).... I feel it's a great spirit of business to have, and a great motivator for those who like to go beyond the standard motivations.... - Dien Rice |
