Well Fishman, It begins by knowing what you plan to do with a LIST. The phone book is a list of people. Local BBB and C of C have lists of businesses. Why do you want to BUILD A LIST? What is the purpose? I see only two reasons for having a list. A list of potential buyers...or PROSPECTS. Especially Qualifited Prospects. OR a list of customers. I'm assuming you mean the first kind, since you don't have any customers, right? You begin by identifying WHO you want on your list and WHY. The reason so many Internet Marketing types use a squeeze page with a double opt in is to build a list of POTENTIAL customers. They have somewhat qualified you and you have given them permission to make you offers. That's the whole point in a nutshell. You want a list to make offers to. Either a list of PROSPECTS or a list of CUSTOMERS. Once you have a list of customers and you have satisifed them with whatever you are selling, then it is a tested and proven method to increase sales because a satisfied customer MAY buy from you again. You've got the hard part out of the way, getting them to part with money for whatever you are offering. Their "sales resistance" has been lowered and they are more open to your other offers. PROSPECTS, well that's the ball game isn't it? You want to find people who have an interest, or have a desire, a want or a need for what you are selling. OR a DEMAND. We've seen in recent posts the frustration that comes from having products to sell and nobody to sell them to. The reason for building a list is to find potential sales. So, I think the obvious question is, what are you offering? That will determine the type of list you want to build. OR, if you don't have something to offer, then you might look at already existing lists of BUYERS who may have an interest in similar products or services. Once you have found a list of buyers, you may rent it, or possibly do a Joint Venture with the list owner and ACQURE or CREATE a product the list may be interested in. That's the whole jist of Affiliate Marketing online. So when "they" say, "it is in the list"...you have know what YOU want from any list you plan to build. What kind of a list do you seek?
