Thanks for sharing this successful letter. I think the "limited offer" is powerful. Only 3 people! Of course, those who received the letter don't know he only sent it to 10 people... They probably imagine they are one of dozens or hundreds (making it seem even more limited than it actually was). Of course, if he didn't get his 3 responses, he could have mailed it out to more (presumably). I also like the "cadence" of "spend half the time, making 4 times the money, and my fee is $3000.00." It has a nice "rhythm" to it... and it uses the power of "three"... I first learned about "the power of three" from Gordon Jay Alexander, and he pointed out how it often appears in the movie "Elmer Gantry" (with Burt Lancaster)... Here's a part of the movie script, where you can see it in action... (This is a speech by Elmer Gantry... Say it out loud to get the full effect...!) Quote:
You can find "the power of three" used in many powerful speeches, and elsewhere too... "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" "Trust, Justice, and the American Way" (as Superman said!) "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" (US Declaration of Independence) "Turn on, tune in, drop out" (as Timothy Leary once recommended) "I said shake, rattle, and roll" (as Bill Haley once sang!) Thanks for reading... Till next time... adios, au revoir, and auf wiedersehen! ![]() Best wishes, ![]() Dien |
