Default Standing out from the crowd....

Many people want to just follow the crowd.... There's wisdom in following successful role models, but there's also be wisdom in going places where others haven't been before, adding your own unique "twist"....

Here's an illuminating quote!

"The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been."
- Alan Ashley-Pitt

Gordon once wrote something called "You Have No Competition." There, he stressed that everyone is UNIQUE.

Your uniqueness tells me that you have a better chance at finding a particular type of service or product, or can serve a particular niche, better than almost anybody else....

Your knowledge and experiences are unique. Nobody has the exact same knowledge and experiences that you do! There are things you can see in a certain industry, or about a certain market, that I can't see, and which few other people can.

For example, in my case, if I wanted to target the market of physicists, I'm in prime position to do so, having worked as a research physicist myself. Another market I'm in a good position to target are members of the general population who are interested in physics. Whenever I go to a party, when people found out I was a physicist, I always got one of two reactions....

1. "Oh, I always hated physics in high school."

2. "Wow! Tell me about the latest theory...." (the latest physics or space-related item in the news or which they had read about in a book or magazine)....

Thanks to my experiences, I'm also in an excellent position to target this second group....

Another group I'm well disposed to target are those who want to invest in the stock market. I've made excellent returns myself on the stock market, and my close family members have also made excellent returns by investing based on my advice.

Another example is Gordon Alexander.... He is a great position to know what people who play golf want. He's an avid fan of golf and has spent a large part of his life instructing golfers. That's probably why he's had so much success with products such as his Think and Reach Par.... His vast experience with direct marketing, such as the time he was hand-picked by Benjamin Suarez to work with him, also makes him an expert in that market too....

What have you done (for business or pleasure) which may give you insight into the specific wants of a particular market? That could be a good lead for your business ideas.... :)

Over the next couple weeks I'll be registering one or two companies, and then I'll be working towards launching a few products in the few months after that. Some will be aimed specifically at the Australian market (such as the Aussie edition of Gordon's "Think and Reach Par"), and others will be international. One of the primary products will be related to the stock market.

It's a very exciting time!

Default Getting out my binoculars.....

Hi Dien!

I am getting out my binoculars (or perhaps I should get out my telescope?) to see you standing outside of the crowd over there across the Pacific.

Congratulations on your projects! I am looking forward to seeing more!

With Purpose and Passion,

JULIE

Yes, I'm here, jumping up and down and waving frantically! Can you see me? :)

If you see a little speck hopping up and down on the horizon, that's probably me! :)

> Congratulations on your projects! I am

It's all coming along.... I've been really intensively studying business for the past six months or so, I've read... dozens and dozens of books.... I've had Gordon's guidance (as we all do in the Study Group forum), and had fantastic inspiring discussions with people like you, Julie....

It's time to put all the pieces together! :)

Hi Dien,

Your Post struck a cord and got me thinking, especially the quote:

"The man who follows the crowd will
usually get no further than the crowd. The
man who walks alone is likely to find
himself in places no one has ever
been." - Alan Ashley-Pitt

I truly believe that If you follow the crowd you become one with the crowd (like the Borg...from Star Trek ) "You will be assimilated!"
"Those who assemble ...Resemble"

"...The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been." True. I would add to this quote the following: "At least not anybody in his peer group."

Sometimes walking alone can feel VERY LONELY in these places...

Dien I will have to collect my thoughts and write about this in a separate post. I feel It will be a long one..

Bye for Now.

Heheh, I love that image! (I think the Borg are pretty cool.... :))

And it's true.... Actually, most people feel more comfortable being "part of the crowd"....

But often it pays to dare to be different! Take what you know, and apply it to a specific market or industry that you know better than most people, where you can see the opportunities better than most others can....

Break free from the Borg! :)

Yes, I know what you mean....

Hi Dien,

Due to a recent death in the family (My Great Aunt), I was not able to reply to your post last week as my house was full with family matters.

I am back in gear this week though! I think I will post my reply to this message at the top of this forum as there has been a lot of activity here since last week.

Duane

P.S
I am glad you enjoy reading my posts, I really enjoy your discussion board.
