As always, your post awakens my thought processes. Not long ago I taught on the Parable of the Talents...and it has come up repeatedly since then. Thanks for reminding me...I think I will use this to meditate and contemplate this week. With Purpose and Passion, JULIE > The Brick Challenge > The Master was going on a journey. > He called his servants and entrusted a ton > of bricks to each of them. > Then he went on his journey. > "After a long time the master of those > servants returned and settled accounts with > them. > The first said, 'you ENTRUSTED me with a ton > of bricks. > See, I have sold them wholesale. Here is > $100. > "His master replied, `Well done, good > and faithful servant! You have been faithful > with a few things; I will put you in charge > of many things. Come and share your master's > happiness!' > "The second man also came. `Master,' he > said, `you entrusted me with a ton of > bricks; see, I went out, found a client and > built him a brick wall.' > "His master replied, `Well done, good > and faithful servant! You have been faithful > with a few things; I will put you in charge > of many things. Come and share your master's > happiness!' > "Then the third man came. `Master,' he > said, `I knew that you are a bit of > information man, > So I was afraid and went out and published a > book on "How to publish books on > building brick walls without having built > one". > See, here is $50.' > "His master replied, 'you should have > put my bricks to work.' > Throw that worthless servant outside, into > the darkness, where there will be weeping > and gnashing of teeth.' > And then the fourth man came `Master,' he > said, `you entrusted me with a ton of > bricks; see, I didn't sell them, I didn't > build a wall. > I......... > Here is $150,000 > (what would YOU do with a ton of bricks? > Somewhat similar story was featured on TV) > "His master replied, `Well done, good > and faithful servant! You have been faithful > with a few things; I will put you in charge > of many things. Come and share your master's > happiness!' > And then the fifth man came. `Master,' he > said, `you entrusted me with a ton of > bricks; see, I didn't sell them, I didn't > build a wall, I didn't build ........, as > the fourth man did. > I didn't take action. > I THOUGHT... > "WHAT WOULD MY MASTER DO IF HE WAS > ENTRUSTED WITH A TON OF BRICKS?" > And THEN I went out and............ > Here is $1,000,000 > "His master replied, `Be my Partner!' > Copyright: "Those Who Have Ears Let > Them Hear" Publishing. > 2001. |
