Default You are correct, with a few times a year exception.

Are you going through the sections of craigslist?

using those search numbrers, and it is just a suggestion, I advise a beginner to start with looking at everything for sale, or go through each section day by day for 90 days and you'll see things.

Here is what I found today on my local cl in those price ranges, and I only covered about one third of the categories...just to show you what is out there.

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/boa/3091229040.html

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/fod/3127582934.html
http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/spo/3108978609.html

Any one of these COULD be a 500 dollar deal.

Now craigslist is only ONE place to look, local newspapers, especially weeklies are good and Sunday papers too. NOT everyone is keen on the Internet and don't forget MOVING sales too.

As far as autos, what I said was, and this is both the report and the course is that I SHY away from anything titled, but, when I find a bargain or something with stored value, then I flip it ...

Cars, maybe two to 3 times a year...but, with my brothers and cousins involved...we can do several cars/motorcycles per year without getting hassled about licenses and all that.

Boats too. I just don't care for big things, when I can find a set of 4,000 dollar drapes that are sold for pennies on the dollar and fit in the back seat...those kind of things are MY preference, however, some guys, like John McTighe liked appliances...

If you like to move things and have the ability, there is always a bargain on appliances, furniture and household furnishings.

The secret, which I've REVEALED about 1001 times here is

to find UNDERVALUED CHATTEL, and build a network of buyers.

Don't use any numbers to limit searches, just go through each subject and see what is for sale.

Gordon - in the $2,499 - $5,001 range, what types of products are you seeing/do you buy? I'm finding 90% autos with some campers too. I think I recall you saying once that you steer clear of autos.

Thanks,

Tim

Default Here are a couple of secret search tips.

Try this, to get familiar with how you want to search, we all have preferences.

Start with a general search of everything, like you were doing only now put

custom made in one search
custom built in the next
and just
custom or customized

The first one will turn up everything from custom made drapes/curtains to custom made dog houses...these often have higher perceived value too.

Where are the affluent, both old money and the people building the McMansions in your area? This is where you'll find 1000 dollar curtains and drapes, if they have a newspaper that covers the area, look for moving sales.

Start without any search restrictions...and make a list, like I did of all the stuff in a given range, pick your own...again, this is all education about your area, what is being sold and such.

Also, if you see a mower for sale, THINK BUNDLE so that maybe some high schooler or college "kid" can start his own lawn care business.

I advise you to become an expert on all the buying, selling and consignment stores in your area, so you can build a network of buyers both to sell to and to consult with.

Wow. Worked like a charm! Just found this:

http://annapolis.craigslist.org/hsh/3118546672.html

Custom drapes for $30. I plan to ask her for photos and start calling consignment shops, etc.

THANKS Gordon!

Default Wait Tim, I'm not done yet.

Go to google, search for dry cleaners and alterations to see what is near you.

Find one which offers both...and you have a beginning of a NETWORK. Now, you can find curtains, drapes and have them altered, and cleaned and get a premium price.

Sometimes, you'll find baby rooms, and when the baby outgrows the crib and is ready for some little boy/girl makeover, you can pick up everything and offer it as a bundle.

Cute little boys in blue curtains can be traded for spiderman stuff and when they outgrow spiderman (some of us never do)...

Especially affluent parents like to keep their kids happy, and so you'll see lots of new curtains and drapes being bought and sold...

The TAILOR/ALTERATIONS person you find, and they don't have to be with a dry cleaner, most are work at home types...can also do wedding dresses, prom dressers and tuxedos too...and there is a parade of life element to it...prom dress is a one time deal...but, there is always a prom next year.

So, you may buy some curtains, ask about anything else they may be selling, you never know...but with a alterations person, you can now customize the custom made drapes for someone else, and throw in free dry cleaning, or a coupon for half price.

Likewise, if you see a name brand, like an eddie bauer high chair, you can BUNDLE this with other kid items, and increase your profits.

Good for looking, the more you look, the more you'll see and just a little bit of part-time sleuthing, could be a great source for some sweet cash in your pocket.
