![]() who did NOT vote and was UNinterested have rec'd email from one of your affiliates.
Don't know or care how many affiliates you have, be they be VIP or not, but once something hits my email box it is outside of your testing, or is it? So what you say about this being offered ONLY for those who responded to your testing, isn't quite accurate. Is it? Gordon Quote:

![]() In the P.S. section of Glenn's post he, in part, wrote:
"Everything is based on Give to Get - Golden Rule Foundations." I guess I got lost because my understanding of how this particular brand of advertising works is: The, in this case, author of the book gives us a chance to vote on a title. When we do, he gets the opportunity to sell us the book. This gives him two gets. One, the opp to sell and two, the opp to make some quick cash all based on the give to get principle. All the voter really was "given" was an opportunity to spend money as it seems to shake out. I completely understand the principle and know how it works. This is the ole subliminal technique. Make it look like they are getting something in return for their, again in this case, vote. Where I got lost was the rebuke of those who didn't vote (I did vote btw cuz I liked the BUM title). I realize the rebuke can be part of the give and get because it may tinge the conscience of someone who thinks they should have voted. Out of what we would commonly call guilt they buy. Two objectives served. One, a sale and two an assuaged conscience. But, to thicken the plot, I too was offered an opportunity to buy the book through an affiliate. I can't remember seeing any notice of an affiliate program being available. Unless of course this is part of a jv program and not really an affiliate program and not open to the general voting public at large. The post didn't mention anything about this affiliate attachment. None of this is meant in anyway to impugn the book. It stands on its own. It is the marketing thereof I wish to better understand. If anyone can remove the mist around the marketing, I would be greatly appreciative. Other than that, I'm all for marketing anyway a person can honestly present their product. After all, we are marketers on this forum, right? Tom |

I think the "give" was Glenn explaining how he (1) develops which topic to write a product about (this is the part where he asks people to choose from different titles), and (2) how to write it quickly (i.e. using an "outlining" method, e.g. he writes the chapter titles first, which serves as an outline). It might have gotten "lost in the shuffle" over all these latest posts, but I think the lessons were there... I think they're good lessons, too (in my opinion)... Yes, he sells some, too. But he also gave away free instructional information we could all learn something from, with no obligation... Best wishes, Dien |

![]() Thanks Gordon,
You know more about this than me. I've not done any large affiliate JV's before - with one of my products. (I've endorsed others to my list.) So. I'm a newbie at this. I don't have a clue who got what. A - I wrote and tested the headline B - Wrote and tested a sales letter C - Several people made munny and wanted to mail their lists. So I p aid my webmaster to set up affiliate PHP links so I can tell who sent which buyers. Huh. Hadn't thought about sow pub and Affiliate links over-lap. Glenn P.S. - I tell everyone who e-mails or calls me - "Don't b uy if the cost of a pair of shoes or dinner and a movie busts your budget." |

![]() Now I am really confused. Glenn posted:

If you pay your webmaster to set up affiliate PHP links so you could tell who sent which buyers, how can you not know who got what? The links tell you who sent and who received. That's part of the program. One more time, this has nothing to do with the book. It stands on its own. This has to do w/the marketing. BTW, the insulting P.S. was unnecessary. Really no need to add it given only one person mentioned the price. Price isn't the only determinant in the buying matrix, right? Maybe the giver is getting and the only recourse is to follow the politician retort route. If true, that would be sad. Tom |

![]() Hey Tom,
You think U are confused. You must be using fancy affiliate software. I've patched my system together. All I see in Paypal Windows is the name, address of the b uyer. And the Affiliate who sent them. All total strangers to me. How am I to know if they use sow pub or not. I know not. Glenn If you pay your webmaster to set up affiliate PHP links so you could tell who sent which buyers, how can you not know who got what? The links tell you who sent and who received. That's part of the program. |

The private message in the post or my reply to your PM telling me you jved the book? Either one my answer is the same. Your thread certainly generated a lot of squawk on an otherwise calm forum ![]() Tom |

![]() apparently both you and Glenn were somewhat "skittish" about doing what a Bum does.
Don't know, don't care. I've never been ashamed about chatteling. NEVER concerned about my image in the community, in fact, proud of it. Even though you hauled down 80 bux an hour, it is apparently beneath you to do BUT you can't wait to sell it to other people. I'm sorry, I don't get this at all. Maybe I have to spring for the report, but, no, that ain't gonna happen. What happened to making a living the old fashioned way, with honest work, and when did selling stuff that you wouldn't do yourself, because you'd be ashamed to be seen doing it...when did the money become so important...oh, there is a money back guarantee, IF, the buyer actually provides some proof he at least went and acted like a bum... NO THANKS Skip/Glenn. Gordon Quote:

Gordon, Thank you for your opinion. This IS honest work. I choose other work over this work as a full time job. Another person might choose this work. Are they right or am I. Both are right. Opinions come in all sizes. The image of a Bum come in all sizes. You have yours and I have mine. Best of success, Skip Rosell Last edited by Dien Rice : July 29, 2012 at 09:33 AM. ![]() Well, I'm going to keep giving my opinions then...
I just quoted YOU Skip, I don't care one way or the other, but when someone says they were concerned about their IMAGE in the community and that whatever you do at the gas station may have some people think of you a certain way... Yet, less than a day goes by and I get your affiliate offer. So, it seems, you won't do this honest albeit "shameful" work, yet you can't wait to send this to your list solely because you think it will make you a ton of money. That's about as far from HONEST as it gets. Skip, tell you what, send me another email which clearly states you tried it, made money but were concerned about your image OR tell the potential buyer there is an element of the BUM technique which could make you look, in the eyes of your friends, family, customers (your community) like a real BUM, whatever and however you describe them. In the first post, you say it's a business, and that carries with it certain inferrances, like TAXES and such, then it is a job. In the last year of getting your newsletters I've not read of too many things that gives you this return on your time, so, it just begs the question in my mind, Why won't Skip do this simple easy 80 and hour money maker as opposed to one of his 30 dollar an hour money maker he writes about. Do whaever job or business you Skip, no concern of mine, but if there is something shameful or shady or truly BUMmy about this, then that's a different story. I'm just disappointed in you Skip, selliing something you are too embarassed to do yourself even though it could put a lot of buxs in your pocket. Just an opinion, no need to respond, I get it, we have different takes on what is shady and what isn't. Gordon Alexander Quote:
