The journey is its own reward....

Sorry I've been a bit quiet the past day or so.... I just seem to have been overwhelmed with a few different things!

I'll be posting more tonight, and catching up on everything.... :)

Meanwhile, here's a thought....

To some people, the *journey* is the *reward*.

What I mean is that for them, the *reward* of doing business is the *journey* of setting up and creating a business itself....

I *suspect* that people like this are proably *more* successful than those who don't find value in the journey itself....

I think that's so because these people will probably put in more effort in the long run, since the effort is, in a sense, it's own reward.... Both spiritually and in their own self-development....

What do you think?

I think you are right.

Take the seriel entrepreneurs you mentioned previously--to them, there must be an intrinsic reward received in the process, perhaps more so than in the end result.

Now here's another thought--folks who start all sorts of projects, but never complete any of them. While there are all sorts of reasons for this (lack of focus, lack of discipline, fear of failure, to name just a few), your post makes me think of something more--perhaps the adrenaline rush of creating something is gone once the project is almost over. So it is time to move to the next "fix."

But for those who stick to one project and are fueled by the journey, I agree...they may be quite successful.

Instead of relaxing when the goals are met (for example, let's say the sales start rolling in), they will want to keep journeying...improving their business, their products, and themselves. Even when they become a millionaire, they cannot rest--because that would mean the journey is over--and money and fame really wasn't the goal anyway.

Now tying it in with your "optimism" post, I would also venture to say that journeyers (is that a word?) are also optimists.

Imagine if you took a flight, and due to delays and cancellations you were rerouted to a different city and subjected to a lay over there. How you would think of it?

As an annoying delay?
Or as a "free" trip to another place and another way to extend the "journey?"
