Default Why you should "Go Mobile"!

A local Financial biz sent a note to it's members;

Jan 30, 2015

......"Google's slumping stock price has primarily been driven by two factors; steadily rising expenses and a general shift by people toward using smartphones instead of desktop and laptop computers to do searches and peruse digital content.

Ad prices have been sagging because marketers haven't been willing to pay as much to pitch consumers who are squinting at the smaller screens on smartphones."

Also....Apple's new phone offering has been selling an average of 38,000 units AN HOUR.....24 hrs a Day.....for the last 4 days!

So.....go get local biznesses to "Get With It" and "Go Mobile"!

Dave Cisneros has a neat new program for making mobile phone "MockUps" so sales people can show biz owners;
1) What their website looks like NOW
and....
2) What it COULD look like....if they want to go Mobile.....for a fee, of course

The trend is definitely going toward Iphone/tablets. Any business not mobile optimized is already behind the proverbial eight ball. Funny thing is, I have my Iphone buts still like my desktop (I like bigger screens!)

So, next to a business being mobile optimized, is having a custom mobile app a good thing for local businesses? Not all, of course, but would certain types of businesses also benefit from having their own app for download to compliment a mobile presence?

We have many Dunkin' Donuts around our area. They have an app that is basically used for purchases. You put money on it and pay through the app. I don't think its anything fancy.

I'm thinking of schools and churches that could use an app for push notifications and updates on closings or even use the app for donations. I saw an app where a church was using it for the purpose of recording their weekly sermons for people who could not attend (shut-ins).

I'm sure this idea is nothing new. I was wondering if anyone here believes there is a service for customizing apps for local businesses.

I like to work with BizNesses that don't have a "Franchise" Rules & Regs they must comply with (However....I HAVE gotten owners of McDonald's and Domino's stores to pay for MY Ad Stuff)

So....what if you had an App you could put together for a "Figaro's Pizza" (These are pretty much independent).....that their pizza customers could download onto their phone.

You could stick a Poster on the wall next to the Cash Register to "Entice" customers to put on THEIR PHONES.....so they didn't have to come into the biz.....just bring up the App and....CLICK for a Pizza>

Well.....this is what I did a few yrs ago and the Pizzerias are STILL paying me a nice Monthly sum.

If you' like to see the actual Poster I used.....post a note after this post.

Don, I like to see anything you have.

The major chains (Home Depot, Walmart, Target, ect) all seem to have their own apps.

I think it may be a good idea for local businesses (pizzerias, any restaurant, colleges, churches, organizations) to have one too. It wouldn't hurt.

Having an app is just another way to stay in front of your customers once you get them to download for free. Wouldn't it be like having a billboard on their Iphone or Android?

Even though that might be a decent idea, I would worry about app satiation. Unless someone eats at that particular pizza place every weekend (and thus wants news about coupons, specials etc.) I doubt most people want another app on their phone that they will not really be using all that much.

I would personally pick and choose my favorites. I wouldn't want just any business App on my phone. If I'm a business owner and had an App, I would at least know the people who have downloaded my App did so voluntarily and want to keep up with what I'm doing with the touch of a button.

I see your point though.
