  1. HEADLIGHTS. I know this works, I've done it. Helped write the manual on how to do it. Cleaning headlights has several franchises available. But it is dirt simple to learn, an in DEMAND service, you can start for less than 100 bux. In San Diego a couple of years ago, I was doing 4 or more a day in about an hour and half of work, all cash, tidy 100 bux a day to pay for FUN. Met lots of people in an area I had never been before. I am the resource for this biz, if you want to know more, contact me, my email is pretty easy to find.
  2. WAX ON WAX OFF. Car detailing. My young bride and I washed and waxed cars for doctors, dentists and lawyers back when we first got married. It was a lucrative gig and we got our business by sending out plain postcards. Had all the work we wanted.
Here are some ideas for you on the car detailing business.

  1. Smell removal. New car smell. We've had reports at sowpub from some members they are able to remove the old smells and give used autos that like new fragrance. If you like cars and are into detailing, you can do all or just select what turns out to be most profitable for you. You could add windshield repair, window tinting, sunroofs, tire renewal, dash and leather cleaning. All things to make the second most “lived in home” we have to look and smell like the great indoors. My opinion on cars, keep it simple, quick and highest dollar amount for least amount of work, hard to beat the 3 minute 25 dollar headlights cleaning thing, so when I travel next year, I'll have my little kit with me at the ready.
  2. Auto delivery. Done this one. Drove cross country and for local auto auctions. I was a lot driver for two local auction house, and for one of them, a van driver to take drivers to pick up used fleets. Sometimes I'd be in the Van, going to the east coast to pick up a car and drive it back to Ohio. If you like to drive, check out Auto Transport companies, and even local dealers who often have to switch out cars with another dealer who has the right color in stock.

And don't forget RV's

      1. COURIER. Another one of those I've done, yea, at last count, I've had over 40 jobs in my life. Was a courier for Finley Fine Jewelry, serving about 9 stores in malls, picking up jewelry for repair and returning it. Also delivered court documents, and for ad agencies, many ad agencies use freelancers and need their work picked up. Less so in this digital age, but some things just can't be emailed. I think there are uber and lyft type drivers now who also offer courier services. I don't know anything about uber or these things, you are on your own for those.
      2. BUY AND SELL. WE try to sell the maximum a year, my brother, nephews and cousins all buy and sell cars. It is probably the fastest way to put a few grand in your pocket IF, if you know what to do. Working on a report for next year, may be available soon. NOT rocket science, buy here, sell there for a profit. Sure, some nuances, which the report will cover. OR, maybe, pay me now, I'll get you started, talk to me. Maybe we can barter over this one.
      3. Fix. My older brother passed away a couple of years ago, he was a mechanic and body guy, all things cars. Younger one works on Audi's I just outsource this. If you can fix anything on a car, you have your self some income, just let people know about your skills.

Cars. I could probably write several courses on cars alone, this seems a good time to remind you...
My ideas are over the place. The cards are scattered about, you are picking them one by one, and hopefully separating them into two stacks. One, NO interest, the other SOME interest. If you get to the end of this report and have found nothing, nothing that has stimulated your imagination. Please let me know.

The truth is, I have over 165 ideas, spent a lot of time researching the old and the new. There are so many different opportunities, the biggest one might be the opportunity to waste your time.

I know you will skim through this, maybe see something and say to yourself, I know that, or I can do that. And you probably can. But will you? Or should you?

I don't know, as you may have heard me say on several occasions, you don't get paid for doing nothing. But the flip side is, FOCUS on getting paid the max for the minimum of time and effort is a good strategy to add to your mix. Where were we? OH,

Gordon

Gordon,

This post caught my attention because my sports card son is also into detailing and fixing the "little" things on a car almost no citizen can fix. Example - his girlfriend's friend's window went down but wouldn't come up.

No matter how hard she smashed the button.

He took it apart fixed the mechanism and pocketed a few bucks from the friend. I don't know how his girlfriend rewarded him

Amazing how cars can put moolah in your jeans. People simply don't think about cars as a source of income.

Great post. Thanks.
