![]() I have a secret addiction... I didn't realize it until a few months ago...
I was addicted to the comedy sketches on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion"! A few months ago they took the archives off the net... and now they're back... I can indulge in my addiction once more! Here's one of my favorite sketches (that I was feeling deprived of)...! (Probably because of my Midwestern roots... This reminds me of members of my family...! The lady in the sketch... not the guy...!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSeiDPZ1jNA Best wishes! Dien Archives - https://www.prairiehome.org

Hi Gordon,
I agree! I think one reason I like the old PHC sketches (when Garrison Keillor wrote them) was because they're a kind of Midwestern humor... Much of the humor we're exposed to seems to come out of New York City or Hollywood... Which culturally is much more brash and self-promoting. Midwestern culture seems more self-effacing, down-to-earth, practical, and even stoic... While I never lived in the Midwest, my family is originally from there (from Coldwater, in rural Michigan), and I certainly inherited some Midwestern traits in my own personality... Actually, I just realized, my wife and I are a little bit like a gender-reversed version of that sketch! She's very impulsive (I think that's one thing which attracted me to her), and while I do take risks, they are always very calculated risks... ![]() Best wishes! Dien
