Default Thanks Millard, and a related story, how one TV show launched a $1,000.00 a DAY biz..

Thanks Millard,

I found some great info in your report, thank you.

My ONE time TV appearance launched a thousand dollar a day business. Here is how that came about.

I've told the story of the OFF KEY SINGING TELEGRAM business many times. It was started as a fluke.

But the wackiness caught the college newspaper's attention, and I made front page of the Akron University's BUCHTELITE paper. I cut out the article from many newspapers and sent them with a press release to all media in the area.

A popular local writer, Judi Healy, wrote for the Akron Beacon Journal's Sunday magazine, and she hired me to do an on the air telegram to her husband, a radio show host in the area. Once I did that, then I got a call from a Cleveland TV show, the Morning Exchange...

And on ST.PATRICK'S DAY, my wife and I dressed up and gave the host of the show a really terrible (but awfully funny) OFF KEY song.

By the time we got home, our answering machine (remember those?) was full. We had to hire local college kids, and for the rest of the Summer, we were hauling in over 1k a DAY, delivering the telegrams.

Anyhow, I think TV and maybe even radio, can still be great media gaining attention getters.

Just as an aside, if you were to add a couple of examples of a Press Release, and a cut out of the newspaper article, I think you would have a nice little front end report, for 5 bux or so, to get people who might be interested in getting your course on booking gigs, etc. Just a thought.

But I did enjoy the report. The fact it worked in FL, IL, and the Ozarks shows it could be used anywhere.

Gordon

I was going through my files and found a transcript of an audio I did about getting on TV, radio, etc. In it I use some "High Impact" methods as well as simple things like walking into a tv station and asking to talk to a producer.
