Default I will need to be proven wrong on this one>>>

I will need to see a successful model, but I'm betting against the concept of real, brick and mortar businesses showing any interest in this type of thing.

We're celebrating the 5th anniversary of our new down town, for 30+ years it was a walking mall, a ghost town one at that. Today it is growing and thriving city on the move...a local destination town with events almost every weekend and a thriving downtown. I've tried to talk to every new business which has opened in the last 5 years.

Most have forsaken the traditional BBB, CoC memberships, all participating in the DOWNTOWN CF PARTNERSHIP, which supports and shares marketing information and is an active member program. I think BBB, CoC, and BNI (which was a decent concept, not so much these days) are fading fast, consider they really don't do much for business these days. New generation could care less about BBB.

My opinion is, you couldn't get enough "members" to participate in these meetings to make it worth your while as an organizer.

Which brings up something; MJ DeMarco's SYSTEMS vs. Harvey Brody's gears. I'll start a new thread about these.

I still see so much slop and mess in so many business ideas, a refresher look at gears might be due.

One thing I've learned over the years, is that membership type of sales are a solid way to keep income coming in, without having to make more sales day in, day out.

Of course, you are selling yourself or service that helps each member in a practical way, that the member can easily take to the bank.

With this in mind, having a group of businesses that regularly meet to help each other seems sound to me. However, I am not talking about Chamber meetings or BNI. Those meetings seem to me just to be meet and greet.

Seems interesting to think that regular Zoom meetings with hot-seats and up-to-the-minute advice as to what is working now in the marketplace might have some value.

Does anyone know of anyone doing the type of thing?

Cheers,

Millard
