I don't remember where I read it, but I've always agreed...

The best life, in my opinion, is wealth - without the fame!

Sure, fame opens doors... but it also makes you a target. Imagine, stars can't walk down the street without paparazzi following them around... It'd be a nightmare...

But the wealth? That'd be okay...

Oh, here's a strange story...

In Australia, there's a famous guy named Dick Smith. He had a chain of retail stores called "Dick Smith's Electronics"...

He once found out he was going to be on a list of the richest Australians. He called them up to find out how much money he would have to donate so he would then be poor enough to drop OFF the list. They told him, he donated the money (millions of dollars), and he didn't make the list...

...Weird thing, though, was he wasn't doing it to avoid fame. He named his retail store after himself, and the logo of his store was a big picture of his head...



He also garnered lots of headlines with various record-breaking stunts (a la Richard Branson)... For example, he was the first person to fly solo around the world in a helicopter (1982-83)...

Maybe donating to get OFF the list was also a stunt?

Seems like the crooks were unhappy that Gary made a bunch of loot, so they wanted their share.

Might be good advice not to flaunt wealth. Just enjoy your bounty quietly.
