Action Items For Magicians

1. Trust your instincts and take risks: Sometimes, taking a leap of faith and being open to new opportunities can lead to unexpected triumphs. Don't be afraid to make tough decisions in pursuit of your dreams.

2. Be persistent and dedicated: After quitting your job, work tirelessly to sharpen your act, make connections in the industry, and book more shows. Perseverance and a willingness to learn on the job are key to success.

3. Be open to new markets: Consider expanding your target audience, as the narrator did with family-oriented shows. With some effort and willingness to adapt, you may find success in unexpected places.

4. Network and seek advice: Connect with others in the industry for guidance and support, as the narrator did when a friend suggested trying the family market. Seek out mentors and peers who can help you learn and grow as a performer.

5. Take control of your career: In the face of setbacks, like the agent's deal, don't be afraid to take charge of your own bookings and performances. By taking control of your career, you can shape your own success as a magician.

Revamped version of origin story:

My Magic Origin Story

I was shocked when I got offered a gig at a super fancy hotel and my boss shut me down when I asked for time off to do it. Can you believe that? So, I had a big decision to make in November 1984.

After thinking it over, I made a bold move and quit my job to keep my commitment to the hotel gig. Turns out, the agent who booked the show also lined up another one for me in February. But when I found out, I was like, "No way!" and fired that agent on the spot. I decided to handle my own bookings from then on.

Even though it was a bumpy start, I ended up doing both shows and things really took off from there. I worked my tail off to make my act better, connect with more people in the biz, and book even more shows. In just 60 days, I had a whole bunch of performances lined up and was traveling all over the place.

Then, a friend suggested I try performing for families. I took a chance and made a ton of calls, booking 18 family-oriented shows. I didn't have any experience with that crowd, but I was determined to make it work. With the help of my friends, I figured out how to change up my act, relate to parents, and break into a whole new audience.

I kept grinding and learning from each show I did. And guess what? I found out that being persistent and open to learning on the fly was the key to my success. I learned that sometimes, taking a leap of faith and being open to new opportunities can lead to unexpected wins.

So, in the end, quitting my job to keep my commitment to the hotel gig was the turning point that transformed me from a struggling performer to a successful magician with shows all over the country. It just goes to show that even the craziest situations can lead to the most amazing outcomes. And hey, my fellow magicians, that's a lesson we should never forget.

I then used AI to give me ideas for writing a mystery novel based in Branson MO.

Here is one of them:

"Siren's Song": When a beloved local singer vanishes without a trace, leaving behind only a haunting melody echoing through the night, a rookie detective must unravel the mystery before the town's darkest secrets are washed away by the tide. But as they delve deeper into the case, they realize that some songs are best left unsung.

I next used the AI to create a story around the infamous vigilante group, The Baldknobbers. (Not to be confused with the excellent singing group in Branson by the same name.)

I also used the AI to create a sales offer to magicians for coaching that would include private time, my 26 week magic course, and sales copy help for their own marketing materials.

All in all, I used the AI software to work on things I was familiar with as well as suggest other areas I could focus on in the future.

The examples I have shown here are straight from the software with no edits of the examples or edits of the copy given.

After my experience with AI, I would suggest that using AI is an EXCELLENT starting point. Had I not had the AI software helping me, I would have spent HOURS and HOURS creating the stuff it produced.

NOW, to make an important point.

AI software is just a tool. YOUR creativity MUST come into the equation !

Although the AI tools I used are quick, efficient, and do the job…. My personality did not appear in the writing…. So, I had to do editing. The purpose here is not to showcase my writing, but what the AI does. So what you have seen is the AI, through and through.

Will I use AI in the future, yes, yes, and yes!
