In the decades since I wrote that, we've had incredible Internet, worldwide growth of Internet services, and it today offers billions of people the chance to connect and also to be INFLUENCED, and includes the opportunity to sell them something, which is why many of us are online to begin with.
Now there are nuances to the formula I teach for face to face influence, where body language and hypnosis like effects can occur. But for the sake of this remote platform, with SowPubbers throughout the world, I'll keep this discussion to that; REMOTE influence.
Since the original work, we've witnessed the rise of the dog whistle/click-whirr Cialdini like response in many areas, but obvious in politics. My only thought on politics, and Dien and I agreed at the start to keep it and religion off the forum, as far as what YOU belive goes. My political view is this:
In the time I've had 12 presidents in office (had to take off my shoes to count that high)...I can't recall anything any of them did, except for Johnson and the Vietnam war, where it directly affected me or my business pursuits.
And maybe because they have been off the beaten path to begin with...like Chatteling, discovered in Hawaii as GI's shipped out to Vietnam and sold their personal items, like cameras, dirt cheap so they could have, perhaps, one last good time. And unfortunately, for thousands it was.
But gas lines, wars, all of the things of the world the President had a say in, had very little to no effect on my businesses. I know there are many who will claim they were ruined by one of the 12, if not by several together.
My political point for this forum is; IF you are in a money making mode, then
maybe that should be the focus...I could be wrong, but my high times, and high liquidity happened when I was working...and making offers that people bought...and less so when I was immersed in political shenanigans.
Look, we all get to do what we want, but back the formula.
It has withstood the test of time.
And I think it is more relevant today than even then. We are currently unlike any peoples of the past, with the sheer number of daily mental bombardments coming from all directions, sure, one which we allow; cell phone, computer, TV, some radio still, some newspapers/magazines and billions of blogs, PODCASTS and Tik Tok shorts. Let alone all the social media we may have too.
Today, more than ever you MUST crash through the preoccupations and get their attention, if you want to make money, or for that matter, almost any sort of influence...even looking for love, sex, companionship.
Maybe what you see in the next couple of months, will appear to be a REHASH of the old, and my take is; I have always been RESULTS oriented, if it doesn't work for me, I am quick to leave it at the side of the road and move on down the way.
Getting RESULTS, some claim is much harder than it used to be. I don't think I agree with that.
The first part is knowing what the result is, what you want to happen.
Then building the bridge to get it, will be much like putting together a Lego structure, where you fit the pieces together to get it to look like you want.
There are huge EVERGREEN MARKETS, we've flourished in this Business/Biz-Op market, although it is changing...the fundamental idea is the same...people want to improve their station, position, or current situation and make their lives better.
If you have a way to help them do that, you're well on your way...now use the tested and proven methods that have withstood the test of time. Be glad to engage, answer questions of have further discussion if anyone is interested.
