Don described the difference between hits and pageviews well. What you need to do is just look at pageviews and use the number as a measure across time. You should be able to calculate the number for individual pages on your site. Many people get confused and just count hits. As Don described that is a false number. If you just report hits all you need to do is double the number of graphics on your page to double your hits. Don also mentioned counters. Many counters have a code built in that only counts you one time in a 30 minute time period regardless of the number of times you stop by. This is to stop you from just refreshing the page to run up the counter. If that's what you want to do just edit the file with that holds the count number!
