![]() Oy, it's SO nice to see the numbers in the black (or green) again... and the value of the portfolio rising (finally!) The Motley Fool had an article this week about mutual funds and how much value they've lost -- it's been their worst quarter since the 1980's. Here's hoping it keeps up.
I've been eyeing some stocks to pick up (picked up a few shares recently.) BuyAndHold recently went to "unlimited trades" for $15/month and that's been my best bet. The downside is that you only get 3 chances per day to do the trades, but that's enough to move stocks out of something that's bottoming out and still get money back. There's a lesson there in marketing -- you can't always do well if you stick with just one product. In some segments of the industry, you need to keep a close eye on what's happening and try to anticipate changes and fads. Most markets are cyclical and have a "birth, life, death, zombie-from-the-grave" pattern to them (there's always a few who are interested enough to buy a nice zombie... there's just not many of them.) |
