![]() I like to find Erie Pa and areas near by. I can't I can't even remember the orgazination I called in Pa. When I get to my office I will have to look hard, if I kept any of this information.

![]() I was trying to identify a list of people moving to my county on a monthly basis from outside the county.
I thought of these "public" lists so went down to the power company... They wanted a $45 set up fee and $25 per month for this and several other counties. Probably not a bad deal if I wanted all of them. But I don't... I'm still waiting to see the price for just my county! Somehow, this "public" information is being cordoned off in the name of homeland security, protecting identity theft or some other way to justify sticking their hand out for money! I knew of a stock broker who used to go to the utility company and because it was public information be allowed to look through their book of new customers... that's ancient history! |

![]() I just talked to the business licencing office of my city and they would give me the previous 200 names for $20 but only if I specified a category (eg. contractors).
The names are cheap but there are lots of categories and just getting the new companies would requires that I buy the list of many categories. These lists are then effectively out of reach of the average person and you are better off purchasing from these mailing list companies who buy them and resell. I don't know if this is the same situation with other city departments though so you should check. |
