Default How Can This Happen??

Hello,

I found this message board 2 days ago. It is GREAT!

Due to the obvious intellect and experience I have seen by the postings, I wanted to ask 2 questions.

I just bought a Dell computer 13 days ago (and paid a pretty penny for it). However, we are having all kinds of problems with it: locks up, the symbols on the Outlook Express has colored boxes instead of words and pictures, the keyboard doesn't work properly, etc.

I talked to Dell's tech service 4 times today, and 2 out of 4 said they didn't know why they couldn't find the problem.

I thought Dell was "top of the line," which is why I bought my computer from them.

My questions are: how can this happen with a brand new computer, and is Dell really not as good as I have been told?

Thanks for your time,
Cordially,
Diane Everroad

Wow, I'm glad too that you're enjoying the board!

Diane, I checked out your web site....
www.flattenyourstomach.com

I've heard of you and your husband, and your husband's book, "How to Flatten Your Stomach." It's a bestseller!

My stomach could use a bit of flattening.... If you have the same problem, I suggest you check out the Everroads' web site. :)

They have helped a lot of people with flattening their stomachs and getting fit, and they can help you too....

I'm definitely going to check it out myself!

It sounds like a serious problem....

Does Dell have a money-back guarantee, or will they replace it if it doesn't work? Maybe you can get it replaced?

I haven't heard anything one way or another about Dell, but I guess you usually don't grow the way they do unless you offer some sort of guarantee and customer service (at least that would have been my GUESS)....

Anyone else know what to do?

Thanks for coming here, Diane! I'll be emailing you too.... :)

Best wishes,

Dien

Diane --

This isn't really a technical forum so I hope the moderaters won't mind me pointing you toward a message board I maintain - Hello,

Thanks Dan,

Useful board you've got there. :)

Hi Diane!

Great to see you again! You have now found one of my favorite boards to frequent....it is always the first one I check and on some days, its the ONLY one I check!

***Just had to repeat that one.

***I was asking this question as I dropped my daughter off today at the first day of school. As I left her in the classroom on her first day of third grade, I had a gnawing feeling at the pit of my stomach. Just knew I did not want her in that particular classroom.

And I knew I would have to talk to administration, face a huge bureaucracy and possibly be pointed to as some sort of closed minded skeptic.

Katherine was placed in a Combination Class...which is a specialty requiring special teaching skills....PLUS the teacher will be taking a leave in November and December which means a long term sub will be coming into the classroom during that time....who is most likely than not "green" at teaching, especially a multi-graded classroom.

Katherine had SO much change last year, all I wanted for her this year was some consistency.

I wrote a lovely "sales letter" to the principal, who explained no changes will happen until next week. Thats fine, I told her. But this change WILL happen. I asked what the next level of appeal would be, if my desire is not granted quickly. I think I have it covered.

But this is NOT supposed to happen on the first day of school.

*sigh*

Good to see you, Diane, and I am pulling in my abs as I write! :-)

With Purpose and Passion,

JULIE
PS-Hopefully this picture of Kathie will work!
