Restoring your computer to a previous state
I don't know if the root of your problem is a software issue or a hardware issue. If it is a software issue there are some shareware programs that can help you restore computer settings before the error occurred. I mentioned some of them in this post on my message board.
I'm not affiliated with any of these shareware programs. I mention Norton Ghost as one I have bought and plan to install. I seem to be putting it off until the next big crash -- when it will be too late :-( Thought I would pass this on to you in case it is helpful.
