Re: What I Didn't Understand
Dave
I don't mean to offend you, but it isn't a matter of being upset with such a great marketing lesson. Sometimes there seems to be a double standard on these forums. When Gordon does this everyone cheers about what a great free thinker he is (nothing against Gordon, more power to him), yet when another person asked a few questions in an attempt to do this it didn't go over quite as well. I would really hate to see these forums turn into nothing more than fan clubs. I personaly have learned a lot and would like to continue visiting. More importantly is the fact that I am know a more intelligent consumer. I can now look beyond the marketing hype and see the real offer. That alone can earn me money in the form of savings. I will also add that I have my first job dealing directly with clients, although it is only a part time thing. It isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. In fact, I find that I am enjoying it very much. By the time I go visit a client they are angry and ready to drop our service. I have to then convince them how happy they are to have us. So far I haven't lost any business :) I think some of the posters have been doing some of these things so long that they don't realize that they have lost touch with the feeling of taking that first step. And no matter how hard they try or how well intentioned they are, they can't go back and get that feeling again. One of Sam Walton's biggest regrets was paying such low wages. He admitted that he had so much money he had lost touch with the real working world. Again I want to state that this post is not meant to offend anyone. It is just how I feel. I would really hate to lose the experience and the wisdom of the posters to these forums. Scott S. p.s. It's like you yourself said about buying someones's product. It may help remove a lot of the learning curve. It certainly should never be taken as a sign of failure or ones ability. Love means... |
