Default The Missing Piece is ....

The missing piece that has not been mentioned is the need to create buyer traffic to the website.

This may be an excellent opportunity but without traffic from buyers nothing gets sold. You may find that local newspapers will NOT run ads about your local webpage ... you are competing with their classified ads.

Make sure to consider how you will be able to generate buyers. Now, for an idea on how to do just that ... you may have local shopper type publications that are distributed to your home, how about teaming up with them to provide an online option for their adverisers? This would give you free advertising from those publications.

Default Good input but wrong advice...

Hi:

You are correct about getting traffic, also about papers to run ads...the papers can squawk a bit, and probably will, but as with all things there are ways around it....we've already been there.

As for local shoppers and doing a joint venture...they won't, but they will try to run you out by building a similar site or adding on to theirs - whether successful or not - just to knock you out of the marketplace....we've already been there too - only they gave up and we didn't.

This site along with another of our sites are gearing to be the number one in both their fields.

fsprivately.com has been in the works for over 2 years...finding what works, what doesn't, and getting it ready for mass appeal and success.

Let us know exactly what you are doing to bring traffic to the site and promote it. Thanks.

Traffic could be generated by,

- Offering free advertising for lower cost items i.e. say free ads for items < $50

- Using offline media to advertise such as billboards, postcards, flyers describing the service along with the above offer to direct people to the site.

Thanks,
Rehana
