Default How Small Business-Friendly Is Your State?

The Small Business Survival Committee just released their annual ranking of US states according to how small business-friendly they are....

Where does your state rank?

The worst place is.... District of Columbia (Washington DC).

The #1 place is.... Nevada!

Look up your state (see the link below)! This article gives the 10 best and 10 worst states, and if your state isn't there, there's a link to the full list near the end of the article....

One day, I'd like to move to Hawaii.... Unfortunately, it's ranked 3rd worst! Come on Hawaii, get your act together so I can move! ;)

Well, it finally displayed the list. Here's my breakdown.

Ohio, (where I am now) - #40. I guess that wasn't much of a surprise. I think if they could figure out how to monitor how many times I flush my toilet and tax that, they would do it. I've never seen a place with more taxes than here. But I shouldn't complain too much. When I was in the Seattle area last month, I visited a Borders bookstore and got a nice discount on a book I bought. I was still a bit surprised at what I had to pay. Turns out the sales tax was 8.9%! Egads!

South Carolina, (where my wife would like to return) - #18. This was a bit of a surprise since SC still has somewhat of a good old boy environment. But I noticed incredible new growth when I was down there a couple of weeks ago. (Now if they could just get rid of that 100 degree heat with 97% humidity!)

Default Ah, But Dien.....

A wonderful thing happens when you make your business a VIRTUAL business...suddenly, geography is hardly relevant! For this reason, my plan to move to Maui and work (and play) from the "3rd worst state" is very much alive and kicking! :)

Best,

Jesse
