Thanks for the "heads up" on the butter crisis in Norway! I had some toast with butter for breakfast - just worth a few cents here, but probably worth around $50 in Norway! ![]() (Eating this made me feel like a million bucks, by pretending I was eating it in Norway!) You also linked to an article which said how this is also due to there being a near-monopoly in dairy products (by a particular cooperative) in Norway... Maybe this low butter supply shows the danger of a lack of competition! This also reminds me of how Joe Cossman got his start. After returning to civilian life after WWII, he noticed that Europe had a big shortage... ...of soap! He rang around, and found a company (in the USA) with a big supply of soap - and arranged to sell a huge amount to Europe, for a $1.8 million dollars! It wasn't as smooth-sailing as it sounds, though... You can find this story in detail in Joe Cossman's books (I first read it in his book, "Making It!" - coauthored with William A. Cohen.) You can also read the story (as written by William Cohen) at the link below... http://www.stuffofheroes.com/Vol.%204,%20No.4.htm Thanks again, Phil! Best wishes!
