A textbook that sells for $100 in USA costs $20-25 in India. The only difference is: the book will usually be paperback while US textbooks are hardcovers. And the back of the book cover will say "For sale in India, Nepal, Bangladesh only" or something to that effect.
The inside content is exactly the same.
Not all textbooks are available in India but many of them are.
I used to call for all my text books from India (even after shipping costs (which is a lot because the books are very heavy), it wasn't that expensive). And usually didn't have any problem selling them off after the semester is over to other students. All of the textbook stores don't buy them back though.
International chatteling anyone?
