![]() Hi,
Whats better a Blog or a website for starting a new site, I'm going to have a protected directory that will not be available unless they keep subscribed to my ezine or purchase a product. I'm leaning towards wordpress because of Tagging & Social Bookmarking, how quickly you can get content listed in search engines & blogs. I heard horror stories about installing wordpress & I don't want to spend a week trying to get it installed. Mike Last edited by michael12901 : December 29, 2006 at 01:17 PM. |

![]() Hi Mike,
Wordpress offers the best of both worlds as you can use it to maintain a blog and also include "static" pages like a more traditional website would have. If you think you can write enough regular content to justify a blog then by all means go for it, but I've seen many blogs started with good intentions fall apart when their owners didn't update them on a regular basis. I've installed Word Press many times without a hitch, but most web hosting companies offer wordpress as a 1-click install that should make the process painless for you. Check with your host to see if they offer this (and that they offer the most current version of WP), and if they don't, you may want to find another host! :-) Good luck! Steve www.ravedesigns.com |

![]() A good friend of mine has a terrible weakness. Whenever someone yawns, she always catches it!
She tries to stifle it... You can see her try. But within a minute, her yawn always comes out. Why are yawns "viral"? Gee, if you could put an advertising message in a yawn... But I digress! Here's how NOT to write a blog... Here are some real blog entries...: Quote:
These come from "The dullest blog in the world" http://www.wibsite.com/wiblog/dull/ . There's also "The world's most boring blog" http://mostboringbloginuniverse.blogspot.com too! It has "exciting" entries like... Quote:

What Steve says is right. There's something called "Fantastico" which some web hosts have. If you have Fantastico on your web host, it will have a list of programs you can install, essentially with one click. One of the web hosts I use (BlueWho) has this set up. I recommend (as Steve says) contacting your web host to see if they have WordPress available to be installed via Fantastico... Best of luck with your blogging! ![]() - Dien Last edited by Dien Rice : December 29, 2006 at 10:27 PM. |

![]() Hi Mike,
Here's a post with some very good Wordpress and Blogging stuff! http://www.sowpub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5880 But keep in mind Blogging Saturation is starting to become a Topic that will be discussed more and more as we move into 2007... As Millions more pile on Daily. ![]() The Big Queston is... How much Time and How many Blogs and Websites can people really keep on reading? Unless it something So Special... It has to be on our Must read Everyday list of things to Do! Creatively Do that and the Media... Might just make you Famous. ![]() Regarding the Wordpress installing concern... If you're worried about all the technical stuff you read about and unfortunately there's more than the install... A good idea is to hookup to a small web host/webmaster who will give you personalized help and assistance. Even though you hear of many web host horror stories, there are Lots of good guys with great customer service ready to help... And reading interesting Wordpress Blogs on Wordpress and posting comments is good place to Find them. ![]() Phil |
