Whats Better For A New Site A Blog Or Website

Hi,

Whats better a Blog or a website for starting a new site, I'm going to have a protected directory that will not be available unless they keep subscribed to my ezine or purchase a product.

I'm leaning towards wordpress because of Tagging & Social Bookmarking,
how quickly you can get content listed in search engines & blogs.

I heard horror stories about installing wordpress & I don't want to spend
a week trying to get it installed.
