Hi Keir,

I'm not sure what exactly your community website will be about... ?

Remember, for anything to happen, usually there has to be a "win/win" proposition...

That is, for people to contribute, they have to feel they'll get something out of it. (Since I'm not sure exactly what your community website is, it's not clear to me what this win/win proposition is in your case...)

Anyway, that's something to keep in mind. If people are to contribute, they have to get something out of it too (which is of value to them)...

All of business (at least the legitimate ones!) are based on win/win propositions... The customer gets something which they value, so they win. And the entrepreneur gets paid, so they win too. The key point is - everybody has to "win".

Even if there's no actual money involved, the "win/win" part of it still has to hold true for it to work...

For example, with article directories, as an example, there's a win/win situation there as well. Article directories get articles, which they can put ads alongside, and get paid if people click on the ads - so they win. However, people who write the articles win too - because it's a means for them to promote their product or service... They get "traffic" to see their sales message, and they get a link back to their website. So even though no money has exchanged hands, each side still "wins" - and that's why it works.

Best wishes,

Dien
