What is "trading chattel"? This is what we mean....
> Isn't "Chattel" another word for
> slave? It also could mean 'movable personal > property', but am I missing something. Hi Justin, We use it to mean "an item of tangible movable or immovable property except real estate, freehold, and things (as buildings) connected with real property" (from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary). Or, in short, buying and selling personal property for a profit! Whether it's junk lying around your house, stuff you find at garage sales, or second-hand stuff you find advertised in the papers.... Gordon Alexander wrote a report, the Chattel Report, which is the "Bible" on how to do it. Gordon has been trading chattel ever since his Navy days in the early 1970s, and knows the ins and outs of the game. Reading his report is how many of us here got started too (including me). - Dien Rice |
