Hi Skip,

Hope all is well and you're keeping cool during this hot summer.

I know you try a lot of methods that you endorse. Are you currently, or have in the past, used any of these methods?

Take care,

Good to hear from you. Hope all is well with you.

I don't endorse reports any more because there is
always some one out there that thinks the report is
lame. You can't make everyone happy.

Response to this thread:

Getting an email offer on something he doesn't endorse?????

I don't normally respond to threads that can cause controversy. The top part is my asking a question about an email I got about a warrior forum offer. I asked this question because I thought the methods sounded good and fine, but just needed to get clarification. Quite frankly, at this stage in my life, I know crap from gold. I had been on Skip's list for a good six years or so. His reply to my question, which is the second paragraph, made me unsubscribe. Perhaps that isn't quite fair, but, in the past Skip always tested methods before endorsing. This last email basically told me that he was now throwing crap against a wall and seeing what sticks.

I'm done with offers on email. Done with it all. Not saying that Skip is a bad guy or anything. I still believe his heart is in a good place, but is now throwing STUFF out there and just letting it fly.

Everything being said...thanks to this forum and other marketers, I have now stopped chasing the GOLD. I have concentrated on ONE method to get an income from local businesses that HELPS THEM make more income through multiple marketing channels

Again, I don't mean to post a response to a thread that is somewhat negative, and I still think Skip is a fine person, but sometimes we lose our perspective. I unsubscribed to a list I thought highly of until I got that response. Then again, I'm not a newbie anymore. I know filet from bacon. Gordon's reply to this thread made a lot sense.

Don't care about Bum marketing or anything else you want to call it. Marketing is just helping business or yourself make more money in a cost effective way, with the bottom line being more attentive to your customers.

Default What do you mean by "blind ads"...?

Which may be one reason my stuff doesn't sell into the tens of thousands, but I long ago decided to tell people exactly what they are buying and this is against the wisdom of many a copywriter.

It's just personal for me, no reflection on Glenn or anyone else who uses blind ads...

but my thinking is that if you have to use copywriting and curiousity to sell your products, what kind of a product is it?
Hi Gordon,

I'm not sure what you mean by "blind ads"...

Do you mean ads for information products which don't "give away" the information in the ad? I think any "instructional" product can't give away everything in the ad - otherwise there's nothing to sell...

That holds for not only "money-making" products, but any kind of instructional product (e.g. topics like: how to beat writer's block, how to draw using the right side of your brain, how to win friends and influence people, etc.)...

Maybe that's not what you mean...

Best wishes,

Dien

I guess I got lost because my understanding of how this particular brand of advertising works is:

The, in this case, author of the book gives us a chance to vote on a title. When we do, he gets the opportunity to sell us the book. This gives him two gets. One, the opp to sell and two, the opp to make some quick cash all based on the give to get principle. All the voter really was "given" was an opportunity to spend money as it seems to shake out.

I completely understand the principle and know how it works. This is the ole subliminal technique. Make it look like they are getting something in return for their, again in this case, vote.
I've been "under the weather" the past few days - that's why I haven't posted in a little while - but I feel much better now...

I think the "give" was Glenn explaining how he (1) develops which topic to write a product about (this is the part where he asks people to choose from different titles), and (2) how to write it quickly (i.e. using an "outlining" method, e.g. he writes the chapter titles first, which serves as an outline).

It might have gotten "lost in the shuffle" over all these latest posts, but I think the lessons were there... I think they're good lessons, too (in my opinion)...

Yes, he sells some, too. But he also gave away free instructional information we could all learn something from, with no obligation...

Best wishes,

Dien

I can't read Skip's mind, but I'm going to guess that he probably meant more something like, he doesn't make public endorsements of products...

If that's what he means, it wouldn't mean he doesn't (personally) endorse them...

From what I know of Skip, I don't think he would promote a product he didn't believe in, and in this case, he personally tested it to check for himself.

Best wishes,

Dien

Dien,

This is how the business dictionary defines a blind ad:

An advertisement with limited contact information that fails to include the name of the party placing the ad. For example, a business may place a help-wanted advertisement that includes only job requirements and a box number for mailing applications.

I am not saying this is Gordon's definition, I am saying this is how the business dictionary defines it.

Default My NEW Report, HOW TO WRITE A BLIND AD THAT SUCKS MONEY OUT OF WALLETS LIKE A DYSON

VACUUM CLEANER SUCKS UP DIRT...

Will answer your question and give instructional detail on how to write them.

Can't decide if it should be a 7 dollar WSO or a 69 buck front end to a new group which may form from it on writing blind ads.

Since I failed at a 24 hour book, give me 72 hours, now that I know the formula and I may have my "pick the title" part of it ready by Tuesday, and then I'll go from there.

Dean DuVall wrote some great blind ads, his bestseller (if I recall right) was the headline

$100,000.00 in 90 DAYS

You sent your 10 bux in and had no idea what you were buying.

It made and still makes people fortunes...and for either a measly 7 bux or a price of 69 (obviously the tested price point to resolve curiousity buys)...

but since I will have a NO FREKIN REFUNDS policy, probably will go for the lower price, unless I decide on an affiliate program, then it will have to be worth my "affiliates" TIME.

AIMING for a Wed. release...stay tuned.

HOW TO WRITE A BLIND AD THAT CAN PUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO YOUR WALLET IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS...

Will have at least 5 titles to vote on very soon. Got to come up with a good bribe. Workin on it.

Gordon

PS. I'm quite serious, already have the blind ad template, have several examples and I'll go over the copy...from headline, pre headline, sub heads (aka Deck Copy)...

Salutation
to
Johnson Box

Bullet Points
Story elements
Social Proof (perhaps)
How to arouse desire, by appealing to human curiosity
Call to action
Disclaimer
Qualifiers

etc. etc.

Surely worth your 7 (or 69) bux??????

PPS. Hey Gordon, since you don't buy from blind ads, isn't selling a report on how to write them just a little, uh, disingenuous???

Yea, sure, but so what...I'm after the monies, so bug off.

Hi Rick,

Thank you for showing me something that I am doing wrong lately.

I have had some health problems lately (not an excuse) and have doctors appointments most days. Just getting older and heart and blood pressure issues that they are trying to control.

But that has limited my time and I have not been taking the time to convey the whole story in every email.

The part about not endorsing products in the email to you and others is in reference to just one website that I put up and the products on that website.

I will not give the link to that site here because I do not want to add to the confusion I have already caused. The site is a free blog that I set up for my own use with WSO (warrior special offers). The warrior forum lately have hundreds of WSO's each month now on all type of subjects like SEO, Backlinking, Article writing, etc. I wanted to list on this free blog just the WSO's that interested me and on fast cash or easy systems to make some extra cash. Then as I got time I would buy these products to test out and then write a report or case study on my results. This was at the beginning just for my own use.

Then I got a bright idea. (bad, bad, idea now I see)

My bright idea was if I was interested in these WSO's then my list would be interested in these and I would save them time looking through all the hundred of WSO's to find them. Then I got another bright idea.

Why not put the link to each of these products as my affiliate link and make a buck or two off of any that were sold.

But I wanted to be honest with my list and I told them in the first post that I have not bought some of these products and therefore I could not endorse them. Then I made another mistake. I got so many emails with questions on some of these listings that I started to "short" answer these emails to keep up with them.

Instead of taken each question from my list and answer fully I just got it in my mind that the list member KNEW I didn't buy some of these products and gave short answers without explaining to each one.

I lost track of my core reason for writing to my list. To help them make some quick cash with a good product. As you said I have always in the past tested all the reports myself before I sent any thing out.

I put in disclaimers because I wanted to be honest. I said I don't endorse products that I have not tested because I wanted to be honest. But by not explaining this in full in each email I did all of the people that are my customers and friends an injustice. Sorry.

From now on I will not send an offer out UNLESS I have tested it whether it is my own report idea or a case study on an affiliate product.

I also started to "Short" answer in my posts here on sowpub.

When I said I would not be doing the Bum method myself I just thought everyone one knew I was talking about the bums’ appearance and not the actual work of doing the program. But I quickly put that disclaimer in because I wanted to be honest. I did not put an affiliate link in my signature or in the post for the book because I just knew the people here on SowPub were NOT the target market.

I am sorry that I hurt my friends just to save some time and not do them the justice they deserve from me. Enough excuses!

Time to get back to treating my friends like I have for the last 8 years and give them only the knowledge I have acquire by TESTing each and every product.

Let me start and apologize to Rick, Gordon, Dien, Tom, Glenn, and all the others that have posted or read these posts. I promise to do better.

Best of success,

Skip Rosell

Default Skip, let me speak only for myself.

First, I GET the health things. Health issues eat away at your time, and, in my case, certainly, my judgment as I too have made mistakes.

I regard you as a friend, and a friend of SowPub.

I too, didn't get the WSO blog thing, and wrongly wrote it off as Skip being desperate for some fast bux...now that I see what you INTENDED to do, it makes more sense and is, in my opinion, a good idea.

The way the WSO is being done these days, it is hard to separate the wheat (2%) from the BS chaff 98% so your idea has merit because you are taking time to pull out what you consider to be an idea worthy of follow up.

I also regard Glenn as a friend and a great contributor to the SOW pub forum, and I regard him as a master manipulator (nothing negative there) whom I for one, can certainly learn from.

My issue is with blind ads and I guess, I misread and/or MISinterpreted your reasons for not doing the Bum thing, so, my apologies for that.

Still, I think dragging your 12 year old daughter to a late night gas station to scrounge around for a few bux seems to be, and I may be totally wrong on this, and need to pull my head out of my ****...

seems to be "beneath" the members of SowPub, whom, over the years have shown a higher understanding of making money, that is, are NOT the vast majority like you find at other forums, desperate people looking how to make an easy buck...

We've presented hundreds of workable, doable and realistic ideas here over the last 12 years and I may have WRONGLY assumed that SowPubbers wouldn't have much interest in what a bum on the street does...

And maybe, I was wrong...

Maybe the members here DO want that kind of information, and if they are willing to pay 69 bux to get it...then who am I to say it isn't or is anything they would be interested in...

So, rather than fight the flow, why not go with it, because surely I can create tons of this kind of information (not knowing what IT, thr Bum thing is), but I can write blind ads, albeit, I don't buy from them.

Give the people what they want.

So, I will.

Skip, I have respect for you, liked your ideas, gave you a glowing testimonial which I stand by for your report on your version of having first choice of profitable chattel products, it is a great report and one which I know you used and made money from.

So, if you agree, let's just square up, no hard feelings, I admit I was wrong now that I have the REST OF THE STORY...and I'll try to do better here at sowpub and deliver the kind of information that people want and readily PAY FOR, fair enough?

Gordon Jay Alexander

PS I've deleted my "clarification" post, now that things have been clarified for me here.

Also, I've recently stumbled across, almost literally, an unknown way, at least in my 50 years of looking for ways to make money...a way in which a person can make an easy 300 dollars a day, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year...all on auto pilot without having to speak to a single person. Hope to be able to share it soon, after my testing is done, OK?

Hi Gordon,

Ah... now I get what you mean!

The danger is - you fear that what you'll get will be "crap"... That's because you don't quite know precisely what you're getting...

But - if there's a money-back guarantee - that should probably help overcome the fear...

I gotta say... there is one "blind ad" I can think of which I'm actually a big fan of... That's this one (and the series of similar ads)...

Bud Weckesser was a copywriting genius... I just love the picture of Mrs. Weckesser in the ads... What is she doing????!!!

And here's another famous one (though I don't like it as much as Bud Weckesser's)... "The Lazy Man's Way To Riches"

And here's the Dean Du Vall ad you mentioned (link to the large sized ad is at the bottom), thanks to Lawrence Bernstein...

Default YOU and Dan Kennedy...who told Pete this was his favorite GTP ad

Funniest thing I read at GTP was a letter from a woman who believed that Mary was strangling an owl...

HA!

This ad, along with several versions of What is this Woman/Man doing sold millions of dollars of books.

As a matter of fact, it was one of Bud's best efforts.

Compare this ad to those in Money Making Opportunities or Entrepreneur, the ones which don't tell you what they are with...

the ones that do, like PACE Products, whose ads have run for decades, or SMC, the ads which tell you what you will be doing...like Lil Orbit donuts or badge a minit...

YOU get what you have to do to make the money...

Back in the day, MOST of these Biz-Ops were blind, and people like the M.O.R.E. people, made fortunes from their less than stellar reports they mailed out.
They, were in the print days, the equivalent (in my opinion) of the Syndicate today in IM.

Anyhow, now you know what I was referring to, but, I'll have much more in my report...and thanks for reminding me of GTP, don't see any good reason why I can't cash in on my time spent there, eh?

If you remember, I was working on a complete library of ads, and accessed all the information, when and where the ads were placed, their costs, how they pulled, the tests that Bud ran on each ad...that surely has some value to a few people...as does the year I spent going through the Ben Suarez/SCI ads in his Seed World room, results of 25 years of testing and the results.

Probably will make that a back end to the BLIND AD report, ya think?

Gordon

PS. Same ad from DuVall, although, if memory serves, the headline

$100,000.00 in 90 Days

was the control and out pulled this ad and Dean D. too, was an avid TESTER of headlines.

PPS. The Karbo is one of the top 10 ads ever written, IMO, and one thing, perhaps irony, is that when I was talking to Joe, he had not yet hooked up with Harvey Brody to have his list managed, in fact, I believe he later confessed he was tossing out the names...good thing Joe attended the Harvey Brody seminar, he, like Jay Abraham, Ben Suarez, Gary Halbert, Joe Sugarman, et al, learned a thing or two from Harvey, wouldn't you say?
